Hula Luau

We decided to let Makayla try out a little hula class this summer through the city just to change things up a bit.  We gave up on ballet to try it for a little bit.  Unfortunately she was only able to attend 3 classes since she's been sick and had a ballet recital that overlapped when the class first started.  Anyways, she knew enough and it was so mellow and kick back that the teacher, Miss. Melody said it's okay for her to be in the little recital hula luau today.  I guess that's the easy Hawaiian style which we love!  Since most kids just stand around anyways.  Well she was super excited about it and so were we only because the costumes and things are just so cute!

Look at our little precious Hawaiian hula girl!  She's just adorable and looks so grown up in this picture to me!  Not sure where we got this grass skirt but we had it laying around and she's been wearing it to her lessons each week also.  She even has a real plumeria flower in her hair that smelled great!  She picked it right off our plant.  Great idea Grandma!
They had but little outfits for all the kids to change into.  They were soooo cute!  Here's Makayla sitting next to her friend Gracie.  They go to preschool together also and her mom went to high school with Ryan.  Again, small world!  Makayla is ready to pass out her plumeria flowers to all her friends too.  She's such a good sharer!
Here they all are!  Getting ready to shake it!  The venue was sooo crowded it wasn't even funny!  Very poorly managed. They didn't expect this sort of turnout but what were they thinking with little kids looking this cute that every mom, dad, grandparents, uncles and aunties would be there!  I thought I wasn't even going to be able to see her but good thing I squeezed in there to get a few shots and see her.  She didn't do too much since I think it was pretty overwhelming for all the kids with that many people watching them and she didn't nap today so was kind of tired.  It was still cute though!  They did the hula to pearly shells and that's the Hawaiian in me.
It's after the show now and she did great!  I'm so proud that she even got up there.  In due time where she'll do it all.  She did for her ballet recital but that class was much longer and much more structured.  We're going to do another session of hula so hopefully we can make it to more classes for the next round of shows!  She's lovin' the watermelon here!  Mylee came to watch her also.  She had a nice nap in the beginning and poor Ry had to hold her on his shoulder in the heat and crowd.    She woke up just in time to see her sis perform.

Daddy and his hula princess!  Watch out Daddy! She's just too cute so you better get ready when she gets older. Look at that irresistible smile!

Wiggles Go Bananas!

The Wiggles are in town!  They are absolutely Makayla's favorite guys!  She watches the DVD's over and over and over again and the music CD's also!  She just can't get enough of them so Ry is always watching to see if they come to town.  She saw them last year and absolutely loved them!  This year was a different theme and show which was great!  Go Bananas is what it was!
Daddy and his girls in front of the Universal Globe before heading over to the amphitheatre.  I think this is our girls first time here.  Last time I think Ryan & I were here was for the Sugarland and Brad Paisley concert and Makayla was just in my tummy at the time!

Them again in front of the Gibson Amphitheatre guitar sign.
Our girls in front of the Wiggles sign together.  You never know what I'll want for my scrapbooks so gotta take them all!
Seated in great seats right on the aisle having some cotton candy!  Yummy and again her big mouth open with a growl face for the camera.  This pose seems to be pretty popular while she's eating lately.
The family picture.  Not too excited but we'll take it since it's hard to get photos of all 4 of us. We always forget but try a lot of the time.
Oh finally her friend Annabelle shows up!  She's been waiting and asking where Annabelle is.  This is one of her school friends and one of our friends from the neighborhood that we hang out with. I workout and run with her mommy, Liz.  She got us these great seats and tickets since Annabelle's loves them probably as much or even more than Makayla.  her lil sis Charlotte was so into the show too and so was our little Mylee!  She wanted a Dorothy hat so Daddy got her one.  This girl is so spoiled!
Even Mylee let us put the Dorothy the Dinosaur hat on.  So cute!
The girls holding hands and really lovin' the Wiggles show right from the gecko!
The Wiggles start off with probably one of their most famous songs!  The car song!  It was so funny to see and hear all the Dad's singing along also!  Good times and memorable times how our world has changed with little ones!  It's all so wonderful!
Liz picked roses for the girls to give to Dorothy.  For those of you that don't know the Wiggles. Dorothy the Dinosaur is one of their characters and she just loves roses so the kids always give her roses at their shows.  It's very cute!  Thanks for thinking of Makayla and getting her one Liz!

The show was great and now it's time for some food!  Makayla kept on wanting to walk and sit down for some real food is what she said.   It was fun to walk down Universal City Walk for a bit since it's been so long since we've been there.  We'll have to head there another night to hang out.  Preferable when it's cooler!  We stopped and got yummy crepes at a little crepe store.  Makayla wanted an Icee to cool off with also.  We just got it to go and sat on one of the benches and ate while Mylee could walk around too.  She just loves to be so mobile now!  It was all so yummy for a little snack to hold us over before dinner tonight.  Afterwards we got some Popcornopolis mixed with cheese and caramel corn and it was so good!  Love their popcorn!
Thanks Liz for getting great seats and joining us!  The girls had  a blast together!  Next is the Doodlebops!  I can't believe our girls love the same groups!  No one else we know really listens to either one.

Bon's Birthday Scrap Day

It's one of our scrap days in July and we're celebrating Miss. Bonnie's birthday!  She turned 34 on the 22nd of the month and on that day she also found out that she's having a baby girl!  We're all so happy for her!  She already has a wonderful almost 2 year old little boy named Aidan.  Bons is one of my best friends and big sis from college when I was out at UCRiverside.  I'm so happy we've been able to keep in touch.  Even more so now that she married my brother's best friends so we're all very, very close!  She's like a real big sis to me!

Blow out those candles!  Stace made this awesome pineapple, pistachio, coconut cake!  Super yummy light and refreshing!  Stacy is one of the best cooks that I know and she loves to do it!

Some of us that helped her celebrate!  Sorry we didn't take more photos tonight!  We cropped at my clubhouse so of course my whole family is there for some cake!  And little Miss. Makayla to help blow out those candles!  Happy Birthday Bons!

The OC Fair

It's that time for the annual OC Fair again!  This is really an annual event that we go to each and every year.  It really doesn't change much at all but lots of fun!  We don't spend much time there at all but just enough for it to be fun.  We always go on a weekday and after work for a few hours is plenty for us.  This year we won free tickets so all we had to pay for was parking.  Admission was all free.  Thanks to the OC Register and Grandma Jennie and her secret hidden words.

Mylee eating while and just hanging out with me while big sis is in line with her daddy for the big slide!  When they got close we went to watch them and Mylee was excited to see them coming down!  Shaking her legs and arms with excitement!  It was so cute!

Press play to see the video of Makayla and her daddy!  She loves this giant slide from last year also!  I hope it was worth the wait because it was kind of long for a fair ride.  And boy were there some rude people in line!  Don't people realize there are kids all around and need to watch their potty mouths!  Sad that his kids were right there and he was cussing and impatient!  If I was closer I would've smacked him one!  Big jerk since my daughter had to hear all that!

We're now hungry for some dinner.  Usually at fairs it's known for their fried foods and we usually get fried foods.  But my daughter is on the healthier side and wanted a baked potato.  It was good and perfect for Mylee to eat with us too since she's no longer on baby food.  Not bad with all the fixings!

Now Makayla is ready to ride the elephant!  The giant elephant won over the pony ride this year.  I still can't believe that's what she wanted to do.  It was fun and she enjoyed the ride.  It was pretty bumpy!
Her being cheesy!  I didn't tell her to do this.   She told me to take her picture in this. So cute when she asked.  Scrapbook daughter in training I hope!
Riding some more rides with her Daddy!
Big girl riding by herself on this one.  She's been really into Aladdin lately so this was perfect and it's pink her favorite color!  Right before this ride she won a gold fish to take home too.  It was in pink little fishy tank and she was thrilled about bringing this home.  We'll see if it survives.
Now for some yummy BBQ corn on the cob!  This is one of my favorites at the fair!  As you can see my daughter loves it also!  She's been making silly faces when eating lately.  And making growling noises while she's at it.  While we were eating we bumped into my boss and his wife also. Small world!  It was nice for them to see my girls since it's been a long time.
Then we moved onto a few more games since we had a few more tickets.  And Makayla wanted to win some prizes but we didn't. Oh well, not like we need another toy at our house.  She was pretty good about letting that go too.
Another silly girl picture.  My little lemon head!

Mylee has had enough fun for tonight!
While sis slept we were wrapping things up since it was getting late.  Makayla resting her feet for a little massage.  Not really, just pretending.
Now this is Ry's favorite at the fair. The only fried thing we had, amazing enough the funnel cake with strawberries and whip cream!  He was happy and so was his daughter with another silly face and big mouth going growl!

Ringling Brothers Circus

Ry got us tix to see the circus tonight.  Not just any circus, Ringling Brothers!  We took Makayla for the 1st time last year and she had fun so we decided to go again this year and she enjoyed it even more!  Mylee had lots of fun too and was clapping away!  They do a good job!  This year it was Zing, Zang, Zoom at the Honda Center.

Here she eyeing all the goodies with her Daddy.  She's usually pretty good and doesn't ask for much at all but Daddy usually gets her a little something.
There she is with her new little pink star wand.  Hope she shares with Mylee!
I guess Mylee didn't last too long at all.  She was tired!  Through all the noise and all she slept pretty soundly!
Makayla really enjoyed the elephants!  They were pretty good.  Not so poopy this year at all.  I recall it was hilarious last year how much they pooped and were scooping up that everyone was laughing.  They must've given them something this year so they didn't go at all.  Sorry I had to mention all that but it was a really funny scene!  But look at how talented they all are for such ginormous animals!

Now for the tigers.  Pretty cool tricks!  All so much fun to watch how crazy circus peeps are!  Good fun!

Alyssa's 12th Birthday

We're celebrating Alyssa's birthday today with a pool party!  She just loves the pool and could live in it if she could!  It was another fun party her parents threw her at our clubhouse.  Same place last year also and was a hit and again another hit!  The girls all had so much fun!  And it was a perfect summer day!

Here are all the girls for a group picture before the cake is cut!  As usual the Bui's had so much yummy food!  Auntie 9's homemade everything including my favorite her fried rice!
Miss. Makayla chillin' in the pool with her Daddy.  If she could live in the pool she would also!  She's really picking up her swimming lately too! We're so proud of her so the more we're out there the better she gets!  Before we know it summer will be over and no more pool time.
Mylee enjoying the poolside and her favorite "FOOD"!  This girl just loves her yum yums!  She was asleep during pool time so when she woke up it was lunch time and just hanging out and relaxing out in the sun!  We all enjoyed this chill time!
Snoozeroos!
Of course Patty is full of things for the kids to keep busy and have lots of fun with too.  They got to do arts and crafts and paint on some t-shirts!  As you can see the girls had a blast doing this.  Look at Lexi's hands and Mak's?  It's full of paint!

Dippin' in and getting ready to put her hand prints on those shirts!  This is fun Mommy!  Well Happy Birthday Alyssa!  You are such a big girl now!  And good girl too!  We had an awesome time at your party!  Hope you enjoyed it too!

Gettin' some sun and back in the pool in a bit!

Being silly with her cousin and some of Alyssa's friends!  They were great with the kids!

Vacation Bible School

My girlfriends and I decided to sign up our girls at FCC's vacation bible school.  I really didn't know much about it but I'm so glad we did it!  I felt that it was important enough for me to have Makayla skip a week of her summer school also for it.  FCC's kids campus is super nice! It was pretty well run and the kids learned a lot about Genesis.  They learned wonderful songs about Jesus and just to see and hear all of it from their point of view is so refreshing and wonderful!  Wish I had that opportunity as a child.  Too bad our church only started VBS at age 5 so Makayla was  a little too young for it.  Hopefully they change their age group next year if not then we'll be sending her there in just a few years.

Here she is entering her blue circle room.  On the first day most of her friends were all split up because it's done by age but they got to play together in the playground and during their music/concert time.  She was great and walked right on it.  I was happy to see her so excited about this new venture.
This is one of her teachers, Miss. Amanda.  She looked so familiar to us when we first met her and so did we to her.  We finally figured it out.  She use to take her kids to My Gym and was in Makayla's class. Small world!  Super nice lady!

Miss. Mak & her buddy Rachee.  Rachee was in the class right across from Makayla.  They played a lot together this week and had lots of fun.  Mia was also in her class, along with Luke a new friend we've met recently.  Her friend Gracie from preschool was also there but in a different classroom.  The city of HB seems so small since we keep on bumping into familiar faces all over town.  What a great week at our first experience at VBS!  Makayla loved it and learned so much!  She keeps talking about it and wants to go back but not until next year!

Britax Frontier

We were going back and forth as to what to put Makayla in now that her lil sis took over her car seat.  A simple booster or another big expensive car seat that we didn't want to do.  Unfortunately she's just too light for the simple boosters and we just didn't feel safe putting her in one of those so we bit the bullet and got her the new plush Britax Frontier!  She just loves it!  It has armrests that you can move up and down and two cup holders too.  Now she needs to bring her very own drink every time she rides in the car.  My girls are just getting too big too quick!  She better be sitting in this thing until she's 100lbs. for how expensive they were! haha!

Here she is in the new chair that's going in her Daddy's car.  It matches Mylee's car seat.  They're both black and gray.

Here she is in her new chair for my car.  It's PINK!  Princess Makayla is sooo happy!

Sickies!

I wanted to just write about how sick my girls have been.  I've never seen Makayla like this at all.  She had a fever of 102-103+ for almost 5 days straight!  It was scary and boy was she lethargic!  She just sat on the couch or bed with absolutely no energy at all!  Yes we did go to the doctor but what do they always say for a fever, Tylenol and then Motrin every 4 hours.  So we did and when she was on the medication the temp. went down but as soon as the medication wore off it spiked up again.  Then she had a runny nose and cough.  I felt like we were down for a month with all this.  And then poor baby sister got it too!  But too bad hers turned into bronchitis but her fever wasn't as bad.  So sad!  I'm just glad it's finally all over with and I sure hope we don't get that sick again!  So hard to prevent though when the kids are in school and activities all around.  Guess it all comes with the territory as long as we have the patience to battle through it all!

Big Girl Car Seat

Mylee is officially a big girl now!  She's graduated from the carry car seat since it really got to be too heavy and she's of weight to be turned around in the car too to see where she's finally going.  She loves it and is always kicking her feet in her new chair!  It's like a whole new world for her.  This was a cute photo of her in her seat while Daddy had the window down and blowing wind in her face and lovin' the cool breeze.  She really enjoyed it!  She moved right into her sisters Britax Marathon seat.
