Library Tree Trimming

The library had another fun event today that Grandma & Grandpa Arakaki got us tickets for.  They are the best at getting first crack at these events since they do sell out pretty quickly.  It's a good deal and super cheap and fun for the kids.  Today's event was tree trimming.  It started with a puppet show and then some crafting to make ornaments to trim the tree with.  Grandma even joined us for this event since adults were actually free and the kids were just $3 each.  Way, way worth it!

A shot of one of the puppets.  He was really entertaining and fun for the kids with holiday songs and at least 5 different puppets.
Makayla at one of the many craft tables.  Most of them were paper ornaments that they got to decorate with glitter and stuff.  Super fun!  But here's Makayla making a candy cane out of red & white beads.  She made two different kinds.  The other one was out of red and white pipe cleaner.  She is super crafty and loves it!  Can't wait till she scrapbooks with me!
On our way out Makayla put one of her ornaments she made on the tree.  Her little gingerbread man.  We hope more kids put their ornaments up since the tree was looking pretty bare.  Makayla said she's going to visit her gingerbread man every time she goes to the library which is pretty much weekly to get new books to read.  She just loves all the stories!

There was also a special visit from Santa.  This is the first Santa Makayla has seen this year.  She just wanted to stand next to him and not on his lap.  Just baby steps and we won't force anything.  He even gave her a candy cane with a little gummy thing on it and she really enjoyed it.  Afterwards we went to check out the DVD's.  We've never done that before so it was a treat for her.  I let her choose two Christmas DVD's.  She chose Dora & Mickey Mouse.  They are about $1.5o to rent for a week, which is good if it's seasonal and nothing you want to keep around.  Thanks Grandma & Grandma for getting us tickets to this.  It was a super fun one!
